My first visit to Santos Party Haus, I didn’t expect to get a work out and come out with buns of steel. It was all due to a Sant0′s regular, the shaped out fabulous Cherie Lily! She is an artist who has created her own genre of music, “HOUSEROBICS” combining the love of being fit and music, creating a sound that makes you want to jump! I think this is way cooler then TABOO.

1. What inspired you to take aerobics and translate that passion into music?
CHERIE LILY: Two of my biggest passions have always been participating in sports/fitness & music. I love the feeling of being alive & 100% present in my body, which I get from both mediums. I decided to blend the two when I couldn’t choose just one of them as a focused career path. That’s how I decided to bring fitness to the nightclub and vice versa with the creation of HOUSEROBICS.
2. What would you call your style or genre of music?
CL: My personal style is a celebration of the sexy & strong female with emphasis on being all inclusive.  It’s about being proud of what you’ve been given and making the most with it. My musical style is a genre I created called HOUSEROBICS, which blends the inspirational lyrics & body moving beats of house music (I’m orginally from Chicago) with fitness culture all set to orginal dance music that I produce myself.
3. What is your mission as an artist and what do you want your fab or society to take from your music?
CL: My mission as an artist is to inspire people to connect with their bodies, to give themselves permission to “get sweaty” & push it outside their comfort zone, & spread some love & joy through music. I want people to throw their arms up & dance!  It’s all about feeling good & having fun!
4. Are you having an album release or do you even plan to do a music/work out video?(I think that would be dope!(LOL)
CL: I’m releasing a remix E.P. of my single “WERK” this June 2010 in the UK & USA on a London-based label.  I’m also in my husband’s band, ANDREW W.K., as a singer/dancer. We’ll be playing Warped Tour this summer and I’ll be finishing my full album once I return. I definitely have plans to create a full-length fitness DVD and am working on finializing those details! 5.Lastly what is your favorite meal and many calories do you loose per performance?(LOL).
CL: My favorite meal…wow…I have so many…I absolutely love food and eating!  My favorite junk food is cupcakes. I love frosting!  I also love a good NY slice!  I probably burn between 300-500 calories per performance depending on how long my set is.
