Maybe Rick James “Mary Jane” song was really about Ms. Mari J Brooklyn because her style itself can put you  in a cosmic high and leaving floating for more! Mari J Brooklyn a street snap shooter from Japan has came to the States and sweep the hearts of fashion lovers across the big apple. She has graced the sites of StyleLikeU, Guest of A Guest, & NY Mag! You can see her taking pics at the hottest events in NYC or selling her jewelry to the most sleek fashion citizens across the globe.

I just had to blog about her, Mari J BK is is def the way! Xo

1. What sparked your interest to  get in the world of fashion?

Mary J: The streets, high fashion,  and traveling.

2. Your style is so unique, when did you gain fashion guts to be an individual?

Mary J: Since I was 15 wore everything I wanted to wear, like total pink from head to toe. But when I turned 25, my fashion style started to open up more. I really started to mix styles alot more.

3. Does your heritage and cultural background influence your style?

Mary J: I get inspired by the Harajuku culture,Yo Yogi Park  flea market, and all the rave parties all over the world!  I work at  HARAJUKU and I sell at the flea mark Yo Yogi park , people who come to Yo Yogi park flea market has amzaing style. People I see at Rave Party in the Mountain and in Japan are way stylish. My traveling in Asia and to NYC inspires my style too!

4. What is your signature piece, your must have?

Mary J: Love & Peace,  a owl, mushrooms, neon,  African, and Jamaican is all I need. :)

5. Favorite designers and favorite places to shop?

Mary J: Chanel, Kate Spade, Jeremy Scott, everything vintage and of course Mari J Brooklyn! LOL

6. Are you a DIY girl or do you just find the perfect clothing for you?

Mary J: I create and I style my self.

7. Vintage/Thrift vs Brand?

Mary J: Def Vintage!!

8. What’s your favorite thing to EAT?!

Mary J: I love to cook organic veggie food and Japanese food. No Suhsi! Lol

9. Any new endeavors coming up?

Mary J: Yes, PHOTOSHOP!! LOL

STLYED: Marco Polo?!

Abdu Ali: When did you really get your hands into creating your ideal look?

Marc Tillman: Not to sound vain but I myself inspire my fashion taste and sense..it depends on what mood I’m in. The clothes sort of speak for me. If I’m happy and playful, I’m  usually in colors.  If I’m feeling cool, I’m usually in black and greys. If I’m feeling sexy, you will find me half-naked! [lol] but if I  had to pick one person who inspires me it’s Marc Jacobs..love him and his work!

AA: Favorite fashion mags and why?

MT: I’m not much of a reader..lol..but I would have to say W Magazine and Nylon. They both are fun, youthful and funky! That’s the kinda of fashion I like to see, considering that im young.

AA: Does where you from or your cultural background influence your style?

MT: I would be lying if I said no! D.C. is a very expressive place and a city full of color. You can get away with much more there than say if you were from somewhere in the south…i go  to school in the  ATL and trust me I  get looked at funny all the time.

AA: . Are you exclusively into labels or would you not mind buying a dope ass shirt from the thrift?

MT: No! I dislike people that are! I love labels, simply because of the exclusivity and the luxury of it all. But I have found things in consignment shops and thrift alike, that have become some of my favorite pieces forever!

AA: Your favorite shit to EAT?!

MT: I’m a fatass! [lol] I’m also not a picky eater, but I love Mexican..and Italian food. Pretty much anything with cheese and sour cream on it. [lol] I love to drink and be drunk. [lol]  Oh and fuckin sweets! Any kind of candy too! I have more cavities and teeth missing than a senior citizen.

Finally I caught up with Mr. Busy Body, Bradley Smith. Missouri native turned NYC fashion dweller, Bradley Smith has a style of his own and a dapper, eclectic and grungy  chic taste that is to die for. Already scouted on StyleLikeU, for his unique style he continues to fashionably deliver the streets of apple city. Being the editor of AVANT Mag and coordinating performance art events, Bradley is doing it big  and being on the go of fashion. Make sure you check Bradley out in the latest issue of Paper Magazine too!! Also I want to add that this is one of the most inspirational, sensational, and favorational(LOL) STYLED post, I’ve done so far. Bradley Smith simply hits the mark!

1. How would you define your style and I know your from Missouri, does that
influence your style?

Style in general is difficult to describe because I rarely stick to
one look. I guess I would say its eclectic and ironic with touches
ranging ranging from grunge to classy dame. Growing up in Missouri
only influenced me in the sense that since there was no fashion
inspiration I was able to truly create my own.

2. What is one thing or piece that you love to wear and do not mind wearing
it every single day?

I have a lot of favorite pieces of jewelry I love to wear it all the
time. But if you are referring to an item of clothing…hmmm….I
actually don’t know because my favorite pieces make a pretty big
statement and can only be worn a few times. BUT if I had to pick, I
have an amazing pair of high-waisted skinny black leather pants which
kind of kill.
 

3. How often does your style change because I know you change your hair like
every month!?(LOL)

Yeah, my style (and hair) change drastically from day to day. I could
never stick to one look. A lot of people find their “signature look”
and I feel that is extremely limiting and in opposition to the purpose
of style.

4. Being the editor of AVANT Magazine, I bet you have some sense of the coming
and fading of trends. Do you think that the real cool and stylish follow trends or are trends just for the products of fashion?

I think those who truly have personal style recognize the trends and
then personalize them. It is offensive to directly copy a trend
because then where is your personality? And the purpose of fashion is
to express personality. General trends, such as skinny jeans or studs,
can still be worked with personality.

5. So whats next for you? Any cool projects coming up?

Of course! I am opening a gallery and performance space in Soho with a
friend of mine, which is an exciting venture. Our opening gala, Plump
Reverie, will be 28 May and involves an inspiring mix of fashion,
music, and art. We are ready to shake up the industry! check out our

I am also styling and conceptualizing costume direction for a large
scale production for the prolific New York choreographer, Sidra Bell.
